Center alert on new variant of Corona, PM's Chief Secretary holds high level meeting, advises states


The Center held a high-level meeting to review the increasing cases of Corona once again in the country. Principal Secretary to Prime Minister P.K. Mishra chaired the meeting to review the current situation and preparedness of Kovid-19. Meanwhile, states have been asked to increase testing, genome sequencing and keep an eye on new global variants of the corona virus. Recently, cases of Corona have increased in some countries due to the new variant of Corona BA.2.86. In this high level meeting Niti Aayog member Dr. Vinod Paul, Cabinet Secretary Rajeev Gauba, Advisor to PMO Amit Khare and other officials were involved.

The daily average of new variant cases is less than 50

Health Secretary Sudhansh Pant briefed on the global situation of COVID-19, which also included a mention of new strains of SARS-CoV-2. Cases of new virus variants including Ba.2.86 (Pirola) and EG.5 (Aris) have been reported globally. According to the World Health Organization, new cases of the Aris variant have been reported in more than 50 countries. The health secretary said that the daily average of new variant cases in the country is less than 50.

A total of 2,96,219 new cases of Kovid were reported globally in the last seven days

A total of 2,96,219 new cases of Covid were reported globally in the last seven days, while 223 new cases were reported in India during this period. A high-level meeting was organized to review the global and national Covid situation, new trends and its impact on public health.

Advice given to the state

PK Mishra said that the situation of Kovid-19 in the country has stabilized but the states have to keep an eye on the new global variants bringing speed in genome sequencing. States need to monitor influenza-like illness and severe acute respiratory infections. According to the statistics released yesterday by the Union Health Ministry, 5,31,926 patients have died due to the corona virus infection so far. The number of infected people so far is 4,49,96,653.
