Decision to speed up vaccination, foreign companies will be able to launch vaccines in India without trial

New Delhi, June 2, 2021, Wednesday

The second wave of corona is gaining momentum in India but rapid vaccination is just as necessary to stop the third wave.

This requires an increase in the production of domestic vaccine companies and at the same time the government has taken steps to allow vaccines from foreign companies to enter the Indian market. In this regard, the Comptroller General of Drugs of India has taken an important decision. The company has now exempted foreign companies like Moderna and Pfizer from conducting trials in India so that the vaccine can enter the Indian market quickly.

In other words, vaccines approved in the United States and by the World Health Organization for emergency use do not have to be tested separately on patients in India.

Until now, as per the condition of the Government of India, if any foreign company wanted to market its vaccine in India, it would have to undergo a medical trial on a limited number of Indian volunteers. So that it can be known whether the vaccine is available in India or not. However, foreign companies are exempted from this rule.

It may be mentioned that Modern and Pfizer companies had sought exemption from trial in India but no decision has been taken by the Indian government so far. Now these companies have been given relief.

According to the Drug Controller General of India, the vaccine, which has already been used on millions of people, has been exempted from the trial. However, the first 100 people to be vaccinated will be monitored for seven days for safety reasons.

The government has earlier claimed that the target is to vaccinate 10 million people a day by July-August and that all adults will be vaccinated by December. However, the biggest obstacle to this target is the supply of vaccines and now the government has eased restrictions on foreign companies because of it.

In April and May, 2.27 crore people lost their jobs and those who lost their jobs are finding it difficult to get new jobs. This is because it takes time to create better job opportunities in the organized sector than in the unorganized sector.
