Follow these tips to avoid seasonal viral fever

The change of weather means the arrival of many diseases, which can take anyone in its grip. A change in weather especially the return of monsoons or transition to winter heat invites viral fever. Seasonal fever spreads rapidly in crowded areas, including schools and nursing homes. When an infected person coughs or sneezes, the virus becomes airborne and can spread up to one meter and infect others. The virus is also spread by contaminated hands.
These people are at higher risk of viral fever
Pregnant women, children, the elderly, and individuals with immunosuppressive conditions (such as HIV/AIDS, receiving chemotherapy or steroids) are at increased risk of viral fever. Health workers are at increased risk of influenza virus infection due to increased exposure to patients, and the risk is particularly high among vulnerable individuals.
Symptoms of viral fever
Muscle and joint pain, headache, fatigue, runny nose or sore throat, rise in body temperature, frequent chills are early symptoms of viral infection. High body temperature, cough, sore throat, muscle pain, headache and fatigue should not be ignored.

Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough, use a humidifier to keep the air moist and make breathing easier, eat a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, and protein-rich foods. If your fever lasts for more than three days or you have severe symptoms like shortness of breath or chest pain, consult a doctor.
What not to do in viral fever
Antibiotics should not always be used as they are not very effective in viral diseases. Alcohol should not be consumed as it can aggravate the symptoms of the disease. Strenuous exercise or any workout should be avoided. Smoking can worsen your respiratory system so it should be avoided. Never give items including towels, utensils and glasses to strangers.
