There is a myth about drinking cold water that it can lead to weight gain. Many people believe that when we drink cold water we burn more calories to keep our body warm which can lead to weight gain but is this true? Can drinking cold water actually cause weight gain? What does science say about this?
Know how much water you should drink
Water is very necessary for our body. Drinking enough water is very important for our health. Men 19 years of age or older should drink 3.7 liters of water per day. Women 19 years of age and older should drink 2.7 liters of water per day. Pregnant and lactating women need more water than that. Drinking enough water makes us feel fresh and energetic. This is also beneficial for our skin. So drink enough water every day.

There is a common belief about cold water that it can cause weight gain but cold water has nothing to do with weight gain. In fact water does not contain any calories so it cannot cause weight gain. Cold water can be another disadvantage.
Cold water can cause stomach related problems like gas, constipation etc.
Throat may be sore or swollen.
Headache may be a problem.
Tooth pain or sensitivity may increase.
All this is dangerous only if you drink too much cold water.
There is no harm in drinking plain cold water or room temperature water.
When we eat or drink very cold things, our body expends more energy to maintain its internal temperature.
