Covid-19 is dangerous for diabetics, such a shocking thing

London, Ta. May 30, 2020, Saturday

The fight against the corona virus is very difficult for a person infected with the corona virus and even then the fight against the corona becomes extremely difficult if the person is already suffering from other diseases. According to a recent study, one in 10 patients with Covid-19 diabetes admitted to the hospital may die within seven days. In addition, one in five patients may need a duct and may need a ventilator.

Researchers at the University of Nantes, France, analyzed 1,317 Kovid-19 patients admitted to 53 French hospitals between March 10 and 31. The majority of the patients in the study i.e. 90 per cent were suffering from type-2 diabetes, three per cent were suffering from type-3 diabetes and the rest had other type of diabetes.

About two-thirds of the patients with Covid-19 with diabetes were men and the average age of all was 70 years. According to the study, poor blood sugar control did not directly affect any patient's outcome but increased the risk of complications of diabetes and death at an older age. Increased body mass index- BMI is associated with both the need for mechanical ventilation and the risk of death in the patient.

About 47% of the patients had eye, kidney and vein problems while 41% had heart, brain and leg problems. On the seventh day, the risk of death was doubled by microvascular complications. Elderly people who had long suffered from diabetes and related respiratory problems were at increased risk of death. Thirty-nine patients under the age of 65 had type 1 diabetes and none of them died.
