Numerous researches have proved that it is advisable to follow a vegetarian diet to reduce the risk of diseases like heart disease and cancer. Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in the diet. Today is World Vegetarian Day. Find out how vegetarian meals can make a difference in your life.

Find out why vegetarian meals are appropriate.

The risk of viral infection is reduced

According to a 2013 report by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, more than 90 percent of the world's meat comes from factory farms. Animals are kept in these farms and cleanliness is not taken care of here. This increases the risk of spreading viral diseases. According to a report, eating non-veg can cause many types of diseases.

The heart remains happy

The vegetarian diet keeps you healthier compared to nonveg. It has also been stamped with research. Research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition says that if you want to reduce your risk of heart disease, you should definitely eat vegetarian food. The study then looked at 44,561 people in England and Scotland. It found that people who followed a vegetarian diet had a 32 percent lower chance of being hospitalized for heart disease compared to non-vegetarians. It had both normal cholesterol levels and normal blood pressure.

Low risk of cancer

So far, there is a lot of research that shows that if we increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in our diet, the risk of getting cancer decreases. According to research done at Oxford University, if red meat is eliminated from the diet, the risk of colon cancer is reduced.

Diabetes stays in control

According to a Vietnamese medical nutritionist, if you want to control blood sugar, consume more than 50% of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. Only then include grains in the meal. Avoid nonveg, eggs, fish, butter and refined foods. Doing so can lower blood sugar levels.

Why is World Vegetarian Day celebrated?

World Vegetarian Day was started to inspire people around the world to eat vegetarian food and its benefits. The initiative was launched by the North American Vegetarian Society on October 1, 1977. His goal was to convince people that the vegetarian diet is healthier than nonveg food. The vegetarian diet does not increase the amount of fat in the body and also reduces the risk of heart disease. The fiber and antioxidants in it have the ability to fight cancer.

What if all people became vegetarians?

A 2016 study by the National Academy of Sciences said that greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced by up to 70 percent by 2050 if people all over the world stopped eating non-vegetarian foods. An estimated 12 billion acres of land in the world are used for farming and allied work. Even 68 percent of that land is used for animals.

If all people became vegetarians, 80 percent of the land could be used for animals and forests. This will reduce the amount of carbon dioxide and help get rid of climate change. The remaining 20 per cent of the land can be used for farming. About one-third of the land currently cultivated is used for fodder for animals.

What a difference between a vegetarian and a vegan diet

There is a big difference between a vegan and a vegetarian diet. The vegan diet consists mostly of foods that come directly from trees and plants. Any food that is being taken in the vegan diet should not be prepared from chemical substances i.e. it should be prepared from organic farming.
