New delhi date. 10 November 2020, Tuesday

The festive season has started and now Dhanteras, Diwali and Bhaibeej are also approaching. People will also make a variety of dishes at home and order from the market. On Diwali, people send sweets to each other to wish them a Happy New Year, but it is not easy for people suffering from diabetes to consume sweets and various delicacies during the festive season. On the day of Diwali, the house is full of sweets. If you suffer from diabetes or want to stay away from it, you can easily keep yourself away from it by trying these tips.

Eat small amounts 5 times a day

Most people eat three meals a day. This festive season you try to eat small meals four to five times a day. This will keep the sugar level in your body in balance and you will not have any complaints of diabetes.

Eat snacks and nuts instead of sweets

Salt your mouth on Diwali, but if you are not careful about your health, salting your mouth can be overwhelming. Try to have snacks and nuts instead of sweets in this binge celebration.

Don't let water shortage happen

In the preparations for the festival, most people forget about hunger and thirst. You should not allow your body to lose water to prevent any health related illness. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and stay healthy. People eat more at the festival than usual. Drink plenty of water to digest it.

Eat dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate

People's mouths water when they hear the name of chocolate. But on the occasion of Diwali, there will be a lot of sweets already available in the house, so the idea is to eat chocolate only if it is dark chocolate so as not to increase the sugar level in the body. Dark chocolate has a lower sugar content than milk chocolate.

Do not consume white rice

On the occasion of Diwali, new dishes are made. Diabetics and those who want to avoid diabetes should not consume white rice. This is because white rice contains glycemic which increases the amount of sugar in the body. Eat only brown rice or cereals as they control sugar levels very well.

Keep bakery products away

Avoid bakery products such as biscuits and cakes. Consumption of bakery products carries the highest risk of rising sugar levels. Also avoid deep-dry foods like samosas and pakodas if you want to stay healthy during the festive season.

Do not consume alcohol

At the festival some people celebrate the feast by consuming alcohol but this celebration can also be dangerous. Patients with diabetes should also avoid touching such items. You should consult your doctor before trying any of the tips.
