Compensation will be given if side effects of covacin appear: AIMS Director

New Delhi, Dt

AIIMS director Randeep Guleria said questions were raised about the vaccine after two corona vaccines were allowed for emergency use in India. On the other hand, DGCI Dr. V.G. "Both corona vaccines are 110 per cent safe," Somani said.

After the DGCI approved the corona vaccines for emergency use, several parties, including Congress, questioned the AIIMS director. Randeep Guleria said that if anyone sees side effects after being vaccinated, he will be compensated. This was also done during clinical trials. Dr. Guleria added that covexin would only be used as a backup if Britain's new strain had serious consequences.

He added that safety is paramount when we talk about vaccines and therefore the vaccine goes through various stages to ensure that it is safe. Only then do we allow testing on humans. All data are thoroughly verified by specialists, after which the vaccine is approved. Today is a very good day for our country and this is a very good way to start the new year. Both vaccines are made in India. It is low cost and easy to maintain. We should start vaccinating in a very short time.

Initially, the vaccine will be given by the Serum Institute, he said. They already have five crore doses available and will be able to provide this vaccine at an early stage. In this phase, we will vaccinate about 20 million people. By then, India Biotech vaccine data will be available and its use can be started.

DCGI on the other hand Dr. V.G. Somani also clarified that both the corona vaccines are 110 per cent safe in the country. However, India Biotech vaccines will not be approved until the beneficiaries using India Biotech vaccines sign the consent after receiving the vaccine information. The vaccine will not be fully approved until it has completed its trial.
