Ayurveda Tips: Sleeping immediately after eating can be harmful for health

'Shatpavali' Shat means 100 and Pavli means steps, thus Ayurveda says that even just 100 steps should be walked daily after meals. This is a centuries-old Indian belief that is also very effective for your digestion system.

Nowadays everyone is living life in such a fast forward that after having a meal somewhere they start working in the office or sit down with a mobile phone or even lie straight in bed after having a meal. There are very few people who like to take a walk after a meal to improve their digestion. A is a healthy and good habit. As important as diet is to stay healthy and active, what do you do after a meal? According to an old Indian tradition, a man should walk at least 100 steps every night after eating which is called 'Shatpavali'.

Doctors explaining the meaning of Shatapavli say that whenever and as often as you eat, you should walk at least 100 steps. According to him, the practice of walking 100 steps has been going on since ancient times and it has a good effect on your digestion.

Just walking 100 steps after a meal will have these benefits:
Digestive power will be strengthened
Calories will be burned
Blood sugar level will be under control
It will also control the triglyceride level i.e. the fat deposited in the blood after a meal

According to a study, a short walk after a meal maintains blood sugar levels and reduces the risk of type-2 diabetes. That is why, as mentioned in Ayurveda, one should make a habit of walking a little after eating.

Don't do this after eating.
Sleeping immediately after eating should be avoided. Because if you go to sleep immediately after eating, it can increase the amount of phlegm and fat in the body and its side effect is also on your metabolism, which can also slow down digestion. Apart from this, it has been said in Ayurveda that one should not drink water immediately after a meal, one should drink water only after half an hour of a meal, there is a possibility of weight gain by drinking water immediately after a meal.
