Are you taking longer to recover from illness?: So keep these 5 things in mind to recover faster

Ahmedabad. 13 March 2023 Monday

As the weather changes, the outbreak of many diseases also increases. After catching cold-cough, fever, skin allergy or other diseases, it takes 4 to 5 days for a person to recover. People who have weak immunity take a week or 10 days to recover.

After slow recovery some people may take longer to fully recover but what is the reason behind slow recovery? Not consuming a healthy diet or making mistakes related to diet can slow down the recovery process. Diet plays an important role in fighting any illness or recovering from a wound or infection. A variety of nutrients present in the diet provide energy to the body, relieve fatigue and repair cells.

1. Avoid consuming foods that are difficult to digest

Light meals should be taken during recovery from ill health. During this time the taste in the mouth is bad and one feels like eating fast food. Meanwhile, if you consume too much fried or spicy food, indigestion or acidity may occur. If you consume things that are difficult to digest, the body's energy will be used in digesting the food. During recovery, along with medication, eat easily digestible food. Cheese, processed foods, parathas, oily snacks etc. should not be consumed.

2. Drink enough water

If the health is bad, drink more water. Not drinking enough water can cause symptoms of dehydration. Dehydration increases the body's weakness and slows down recovery. Drinking water flushes out the toxins from the body. Consuming water also reduces the effect of infection on the body.

3. Immunity boosting food should be taken

If you do not consume food that increases immunity, the illness will last for a long time. During recovery from ill health, you should consume foods that boost your immunity. If the immunity increases in the body, the body will be able to recover quickly by defeating the disease. Include green vegetables in your diet. Green vegetables are rich in antioxidants. Green leafy vegetables like spinach, mustard leaves, cauliflower etc. contain magnesium and other nutrients that improve immune function.

4. Do not consume things that have a cooling effect

Foods with a cooling effect should not be consumed when unwell, otherwise recovery may be delayed. Juice, orange, curd, curd, sour fruit, lemon etc. should not be consumed during fever, cold-cough and throat infections. Consuming these items may be good for the digestive system but can increase throat infection. At the time of illness, a person has the problem of inflammation in the stomach due to the consumption of medicines. People often consume things that have a cooling effect to calm the stomach but this mistake should be avoided considering the harm of this.

5. Protein rich food should be taken

The body needs protein during recovery from illness. Don't make the mistake of skipping protein. You can include protein rich foods in the diet on doctor's advice. During recovery from illness you can have food like dal and eggs. Apart from this, include almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds in the diet. Consuming these items during recovery will provide the body with good fats, vitamins and minerals apart from protein. Nuts and seeds are good sources of zinc, magnesium and vitamin E etc.
