If the ears are pierced or tattooed

People who have recently pierced the nose, ears or any part of the body. Or tattooed people can't donate blood? If you have also had a permanent makeup treatment, you must wait at least four months before donating blood. In this regard, experts say that donating blood immediately after tattoo or makeup treatment carries the risk of hepatitis virus infection.

Sexuality also has a rule

Homosexuals or people who have found a new sexual partner or had a relationship with a sex worker are also banned from donating blood 12 months earlier.

Even if you weigh less than 49 kg, you cannot donate blood. According to Red Cross rules, a person above 18 years of age can donate blood only if he/she has to maintain a weight as per BMI calculation.

People taking antibiotics cannot donate blood

You cannot donate blood if you are undergoing a course of antibiotic medication. Even if you are infected within seven days, you cannot donate blood.

Know the important things before donating blood

Patients with diabetes and high blood pressure should avoid donating blood.

Breastfeeding women should also avoid donating blood.

People below 18 years and above 65 years should not donate blood.

Do this before donating blood

- Eat a light meal and sleep well the night before the day you are to donate blood.

- Avoid eating fatty food, junk food, ice cream, fries burger, meat-fish.

- Drink plenty of water before donating blood.

- Do not drink alcohol the night before donating blood.
