A team from Canada's Mount Royal University used a simple mouth rinse to see if the level of white blood cells in the saliva of healthy age-matched people, a sign of gum inflammation, could be a warning sign of heart disease. They found that high levels correlated with blood flow, which is the starting level of bad arteries.
