How dangerous is gastric cancer?

Gastric cancer can occur in any part of the stomach. Research has found that most cases of this cancer start from the gastroesophageal part. This is the part of the stomach where the long tube that carries food, the esophagus, meets the stomach.

Although anyone can get stomach cancer, people over the age of 60 are at a higher risk. According to a study, there is a higher risk of this cancer in women.

Symptoms of gastric cancer

Gastric cancer can spread not only to the stomach but also to other parts of the body. For example, if this cancer reaches the lymph nodes, a lump may form. You can feel it through the skin. If the cancer spreads to the liver, the skin and whites of the eyes may turn yellow. If the cancer spreads to the stomach, it may fill with fluid. Due to which swelling of the stomach is seen.

Causes of gastric cancer

According to health experts, in most cases it starts with damage to the inner layer of the stomach. Stomach infection, long-term acid reflux problem, can also be caused by eating too much salty food.

Who is most at risk?

  • Cancer can occur if lifestyle and diet are bad
  • People who have gastroesophageal reflux are at increased risk of gastric cancer.
  • People who smoke heavily have a higher risk of this cancer.
  • The risk of this cancer increases in people over 60 years of age
