ICU Guidelines And Protocols: For the first time in the country, the Ministry of Health has announced new guidelines for hospitals to take decisions based on patient needs for treatment under the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). It has been said that seriously ill patients in the hospital cannot be admitted to the ICU in case of refusal by them and their relatives.
A panel of 24 top doctors prepared the guidelines
These guidelines for ICU admission were prepared by a panel of 24 top doctors specializing in critical care medicine. which lists the medical conditions in which the patient needs to be kept in the ICU.
Which patient should be admitted to ICU and who should not?
The guidelines released by the Ministry of Health have clarified that if hospital treatment is not possible or available for patients with critical or incurable illness and continuation of treatment does not affect the patient's survival, such patients should not be kept in the ICU. There are some situations in which it becomes very necessary to keep the patient in ICU. In cases where the condition worsens after surgery or patients at risk of complications after major surgery require admission to ICU.
