Why the cases of heart attack increased after covid, are young people also at risk?

Increase in cases of Heart Attack after Covid-19: The world is fighting against Corona virus for three years. There have also been many reports that the risk of heart attack has increased in people after Kovid-19. Be it old or young. Heart attack is not limited to any age. This risk is seen in children, youth and the elderly. According to an estimate, around 5-6 lakh people die of heart attacks every year in India. A large proportion of these are people under the age of 50.

Why do heart attacks occur?

A heart attack occurs when the human heart does not get enough oxygen. Usually, there is a blockage in the vein, preventing blood from reaching the heart and causing severe pain. Symptoms of a heart attack include chest pain, shortness of breath, profuse sweating, restlessness, and tooth or jaw pain.

Responsible for increasing cases of covid attacks

In October 2023, the Union Health Minister in a statement blamed Covid for the rising cases of heart attacks. People are at risk of heart disease and cardiac arrest due to corona infection. According to a report by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the risk of heart attack has increased due to the severe impact of the corona virus. Hence, it has been advised not to exercise for one or two more years to avoid heart attack.

Cause of increase in heart attack cases after covid

More than 100 patients who died of attacks were examined to find out about the increased cases of heart attacks after Covid. On investigation, it was found that the infection of Corona has a direct effect on the heart of a person. This leads to blockage in the heart and blood clots in the arteries of the heart. Due to the blockage, the heart receives less blood and the heart has difficulty in pumping blood. Due to which a heart attack occurs. In this report, information about the risk has also been given to people who have recovered from Corona. If mild symptoms like chest pain, restlessness, shortness of breath, stomach, back, shoulder or neck pain are observed, a doctor should be consulted immediately.

Why even healthy young people become victims of heart attack?

Heart attack has nothing to do with age. Anyone from a child to the elderly can have a heart attack. Nowadays youths also face heart related problems due to lifestyle of youth, eating habits, addiction, stress, lack of physical activity. Apart from this, diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol problems are also seen in the youth. Which is due to their lifestyle or even hereditary. Due to which they are at risk of heart attack.
