Pankaj Udhas death reason pancreatic cancer: Legendary singer and Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas passed away at the age of 72. He was bid farewell on Tuesday. According to media reports, Pankaj Udhas was ill for a long time. Some time ago he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Pankaj Udhas lent his voice in many amazing songs like 'Chithi Ayi Hai', 'Chandi Jaisa Rang Hai Tera' and 'Na Kajare Ki Dhar'.

What is pancreatic cancer?

Pancreatic cancer is a cancer that occurs in the pancreas. The pancreas is a long gland located behind the stomach, near the small intestine, that helps with digestion. This gland also controls the endocrine system. Endocrine works to keep blood sugar levels normal. When a person develops pancreatic cancer, the pancreas starts to swell. It is the most dangerous cancer that affects 4 lakh Indians every year.

In this cancer, pancreatic cells grow abnormally. Cancer does not show any symptoms until a person reaches an advanced stage. Due to this, it gets delayed in treating it and causes problems.

Symptoms of pancreatic cancer

- Abdominal pain that gradually becomes back pain

- Decreased appetite

- Weight loss

- Yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes, called jaundice

- Change the color of the stool

- The color of urine will become dark

- Itching

- Pain and swelling in the hands and feet due to blood clots

- Feeling tired and weak

- Having diabetes or having difficulty controlling diabetes

Causes of pancreatic cancer

Smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, obesity, excessive consumption of processed food can increase a person's risk of pancreatic cancer. According to the doctor, no specific cause of pancreatic cancer is known yet. But some factors like smoking, diabetes, chronic pancreatic, obesity can increase the risk of this cancer. Apart from this, this cancer is also genetic, which means that even if someone in the family has had this cancer, the risk of the person increases.

How to check for cancer?

A CT scan and blood test are done to check for pancreatic cancer. In addition, two other tests are endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).

Ways to prevent this cancer

Quit smoking and alcohol completely. Control your weight to reduce your risk of cancer. Do regular exercise and yoga and eat a balanced diet. Apart from this, stay away from red meat, processed food and fried food. Instead, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein.
