What is Blood Clotting?

Blood clotting is when a person's blood starts to change from a fluid to a gel which becomes like a tumor. It is also called thrombosis. Most likely you have noticed that the clot works to stop the flow of blood when the injury starts to bleed. But when this clotting begins to occur in the vein the condition becomes fatal.

Normally blood clotting does not harm the body but when this clotting starts spreading from one place to another it can prove to be dangerous. This can stop the flow of blood by reaching the heart and lungs through a vein after the blood clot has broken. In this situation the person has to be hospitalized.

There are several types of blood clots. A blood clot that forms in a vein is called a venous clot. In this condition the clotting gradually increases, which in turn becomes fatal. There is also an arterial clot that can cause severe pain and paralysis. Which can also lead to a heart attack.
