Is Chikungunya a Viral Disease? What is the way to avoid it

New delhi date. 23 September 2020, Wednesday

Chikungunya disease is spread by a virus that is caused by mosquito bites. The first case of this disease was reported in 1952. Discovery at the time revealed that chikungunya was caused by mosquito bites. Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes spread the virus. The disease is found in many countries. In addition to Asia, the disease is spreading rapidly in the United States, Africa, Europe, and many other countries.

Symptoms of Chikungunya

The main symptoms of Chikungunya are high fever, body aches, bone pains, muscle aches, rashes, weakness and fatigue.

This symptom of Chikungunya is very common and occurs 5 to 7 days after being bitten by a mosquito. It is possible that this symptom is due to some other reason so it should be investigated.

How can this disease be prevented?

"If Chikungunya is spread by mosquitoes, we can protect ourselves from mosquitoes if we protect ourselves from mosquitoes," says an AIIMS professor. Here are some tips to prevent mosquitoes:

Most mosquitoes of Chikungunya bite during the day so mosquito repellent cream should be applied during the day. At the same time, one should wear clothes that completely cover one's body even during the day. We have to take full care of cleanliness around us, so that the water collected in any place cannot stay in one place for many days, as mosquitoes are more likely to breed here. Use mosquito nets and incense sticks at night. Periodically spray DDT in and around the house.

Blood tests are needed to identify chikungunya, as its symptoms are very common. No vaccine or drug has been developed for chickenpox, but the disease is not fatal, so there is no need to panic.

Treatment of Chikungunya

The AIIMS professor says that there is no cure for chickenpox yet, but early treatment can help get rid of the fever caused by chickenpox. Fever medicine and antibiotics are effective in it. Pain killers are given to complain of joint pain, but it is advisable to go to the doctor if the patient is experiencing more discomfort.

There is a lot of fear in the minds of the people about Chikungunya, but if the awareness about Chikungunya is properly spread among the people and they are properly informed about the symptoms of the disease and the prevention measures, the disease can be prevented from progressing. We are not to be afraid of Chikungunya but to face it by becoming aware.
