Eating too much salt in the diet kills 3 million people a year worldwide

Food without salt feels pale so a meal without salt cannot be imagined. However, eating too much salty food is very harmful to health. According to a study conducted by the World Health Organization, more than 3 million deaths every year are due to excessive consumption of salt, so it has been recommended to the citizens of the world to reduce the consumption of salt. New sodium levels have been set in more than 50 food categories to improve the deficit environment and save lives. It is estimated that the new benchmark will reduce salt consumption by 20 per cent by 203.


According to the World Health Organization, people consume an average of 8 to 12 grams of salt a day. While everyone should use more than 5 grams of salt daily. We know that sodium i.e. salt is a part of our daily diet as it not only helps to keep the body hydrated but also keeps the body physically active. Salt intake improves thyroid levels. Low salt normalizes blade pressure. Improves the symptoms of cystic fibrosis but when it causes HBP, stock and kidney problems. The new guidelines will encourage people to consume less salt to maintain sodium levels in more than 20 food categories.


The World Health Organization aims to reduce sodium intake where processed food items are consumed. Sodium Benchmarks New standards have been issued on May 6 regarding sodium content in various processed food packs, salty snacks, meat products and cheese. According to the guidelines, 100 grams of potato wafers should contain 100 milligrams of sodium, while pies and pastries should not contain more than 90 milligrams of sodium in processed meat up to 150 grams. Excessive salt intake is also responsible for the fact that more than one billion people in the world suffer from high blood pressure.
