Keeping this in mind in your diet can reduce the risk of cancer

New Delhi, February 8, 206, Friday

There are about 20 million cancer patients in the world. In 2030, 10 million people died of cancer. The number of cancer patients is increasing day by day as more cancer patients are being added than the number of deaths. In India, the number of cancer patients has increased by 10% in the last 3 years. The number of cancer patients in India is more than 1.4 million.

Some therapies can cure cancer if it is diagnosed early. The death rate from cancer is so high that it spreads all over the world. World Cancer Day is celebrated on 5th February every year to raise awareness about cancer. Cancer is a centuries-old disease but its prevalence has increased in recent times. Cancer Day was started for the first time in 19 to raise awareness among the people against cancer.

Addictions such as tobacco and cigarettes are thought to be responsible for cancer. Numerous researches and experiments have also shown that some food habits also increase the risk of cancer. There has been a lot of research on diet and food.

Processed meat

Nowadays processed meat is also available. Demand and production of processed meat is increasing in Europe and America. The method used to prepare this type of meat produces carcinogens which are thought to be responsible for causing cancer. Therefore, processed meat should not be taken as food. Research conducted in 2013 proved that processed meat is responsible for bowel cancer. According to a research, women who consume more processed foods also have a higher risk of breast cancer.

Over fried food

Most of the dishes found in restaurants and farsan shops and on Food Street are fried in oil. In India, peanuts, mustard, coconut and cottonseed oil are widely eaten. Researchers believe that boiling the oil produces a compound called acrylamide. This acrylamide can damage DNA in the human body. Damage to this DNA increases the risk of cancer. Experts also believe that people who have a habit of eating fried foods for breakfast are more likely to have type 2 diabetes and obesity. Sometimes this causes stress and infection in the body. This condition increases the risk of cancer.

Overcooked food

Indians are not accustomed to eating raw or semi-raw food. Food is overcooked in most homes. Overcooking the food destroys the minerals and vitamins in it. Even so, cooking food destroys about 5 to 20 percent of the nutrients. Eating these foods does not keep the body healthy. Researchers in the 1970s have found that overcooked foods, especially non-vegetarian foods, become compounds that alter the DNA in body cells. This mutation in the DNA of the cell is what causes cancer. Therefore, over cooked food should not be taken.

Sugar and refined carbohydrates

Excessive sugary sweets and refined food products indirectly increase the risk of cancer. These types of foods include sugary drinks, baked foods, white pasta, white bread, and white rice. In addition, eating starchy foods increases the risk of diabetes and obesity. According to some research, complications from excessive consumption of sugar and refined carbohydrates increase the risk of cancer. Therefore, it is not advisable to take such food in large quantities.

Alcohol

Alcohol use is on the rise. According to a research, the liver converts alcohol into a combination of acetaldehyde i.e. carcinogenic. This is a compound that not only damages DNA but also breaks down the immune system in the long run. Such conditions increase the risk of developing certain types of cancer. Drinking alcohol also causes many other harms so it should not be consumed.
