Ahmedabad-based Zydus Lifesciences, the country's leading pharma company, today launched an innovative drug for people suffering from high levels of LDL cholesterol. Bemdac, a prescription drug, is used to control LDL cholesterol under a doctor's guidance. This is especially true for patients who are at risk of cardiac arrest due to blockage of the arteries connected to the heart, even after receiving the maximum dose of statins.
LDL cholesterol is considered a bad type of cholesterol for the body and heart. This cholesterol builds up in the blood vessels and can lead to heart disease or cardiac arrest. These new drugs, made by Zyds from bempedoic acid, have been shown to be more effective in people who are not affected by statins or in patients whose cholesterol does not stop even after taking statins.
Today in the new market, the managing director of Mukta Zayed, Dr. "Bemdec is the first drug of its kind in India and Zydase has launched it for people suffering from high levels of LDL cholesterol and those whose cholesterol levels are out of control," said Sharvil Patel.
