If a person is having difficulty swallowing food, this may be a sign of a rare disease. Achalasia cardia is a condition in which it is difficult for food and liquids to pass through the esophagus into your stomach. Symptoms of achalasia cardia usually develop gradually and worsen over time. People between 25 to 70 years suffer more from this disease. Due to this disease, chest pain is felt while swallowing food or drinking water, some people also have a sudden rapid cough while eating food.

What is achalasia cardia disease?

Achalasia cardia prevents the food pipe from carrying food and liquids into the stomach. The food pipe is a tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach. In this disease, the food pipe is blocked from the lower part of the stomach. The condition of achalasia is related to damaged veins in the food pipe. This affects the patient's body. Food, liquids cannot be taken properly due to this disease. This leads to stomach problems.

What are the symptoms of achalasia?

Difficulty swallowing

Swallowed food comes back into the mouth

Cough at night

Burning in the chest

Loss of weight due to difficulty in eating

Belching difficulty

Remedies for Achalasia

There is no way to prevent achalasia, although certain lifestyle changes can provide relief from achalasia.

Avoid eating heavy food before going to bed to get relief from this problem

At night or whenever you go to sleep, sleep with your head elevated

Eat small pieces of food while eating

Sit up straight while eating

Treatment of achalasia cardia

Upper GI endoscopy is performed to diagnose achalasia cardia disease. This disease is treated with POEM (Peroral endoscopic myotomy) process. This is a type of surgery.
