Diabetes is a disease that has absolutely no cure. There are certain precautions that help keep it under control, but one of the problems associated with diabetes is that it carries a high risk of certain diseases. That is, even a small mistake can cause many diseases in this. Meanwhile, whatever you do in this, do it carefully. One such work is pedicure in which the feet are cleaned. In this, the dead cells of the fingers are removed and the nails are scrubbed clean. Apart from this scrubbing cleans the entire feet including the heels but this can be harmful for diabetics.

Diabetics, especially those with uncontrolled blood sugar, are at increased risk of foot-related problems such as decreased blood circulation and tissue damage, and pedicures increase this risk.

Why Diabetics Should Avoid Pedicure

1. Risk of leg ulcers

Diabetes reduces blood circulation, causing poor blood circulation. An injury with a sharp instrument during a pedicure can cause an ulcer that won't heal. This lasts for a long time and can often worsen the condition.

2. Diabetic neuropathy

Diabetes can cause nerve damage, which can reduce sensation. When you can't feel sensation in your leg, you may not be aware of a cut or other injury, and this can become infected very quickly. You may not notice any cuts during a pedicure and they may cut deeper inside.

3. Fungal infection

Using unsanitized tools during a pedicure can increase the risk of fungal infection. It is often difficult to treat. Meanwhile, if you have diabetes, you should avoid the risk of fungal infection.

4. Ingrown nails

Cutting the nail too short during a pedicure can cause it to grow inward. Ingrown toenails can easily become infected for diabetics. Sometimes surgery may occur. During this time, the infection can spread further, causing gangrene or life-saving amputation.
