Black wheat will be marketed as medicine for diabetes, cancer and heart patients

Black wheat : Currently, Haryana Agricultural University and an institute in Mohali have jointly developed disease resistant colored wheat. Apart from diseases like diabetes, this wheat is beneficial for cancer and heart disease patients. This wheat is rich in anthocyanin pigmentation, which acts as an antioxidant. Eating this colored wheat bread with its dal removes the toxins from the body as waste.

50 to 60 quintals of colored wheat production per hectare   OBJECTIVES OF THE UNIVERSITY  

Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar and National Agri Food Biotech Institute signed an agreement in the year 2019 under which colored wheat will be produced in Maholi and wheat experts in Hisar have agreed to increase the production by breeding on other varieties of wheat. In which scientists working in this direction have now discovered black wheat. Apart from this, good production has also been obtained in it. At present the production of Sarbati wheat is 50 to 60 thousand quintals per hectare. The university's target for colored wheat production is also 50 to 60 quintals per hectare. Colored wheat is rich in the pigment anthocyanin, which acts as an antioxidant.

Black wheat has anthocyanin pigmentation levels of 140, compared to 5 to 10 ppm in common wheat.

Wheat expert Dr. O.P. According to Bishnoi, normal wheat grown in northern India has only 5 to 10 ppm of anthocyanin pigmentation. Purple wheat contains up to 40 ppm, while black wheat contains up to 140 ppm. According to doctors, the antioxidant content in wheat increases the ability to fight diseases and gives strength to fight against serious diseases like sugar, diabetes, cancer and heart attack. Apart from this, it also keeps the digestive system healthy. Doctors advise sick people to eat fruits like black berries, beetroot and jamun because they are high in anthocyanin. Eating this colored wheat developed with the help of HAU provides many benefits to a person.
