Diabetes is a disease in which it is very important to take care of food along with medicine. Fruits are very good for everyone's health but diabetic patients are advised to be very careful while consuming fruits. However, doctors say that fruit is the best source of vitamins, minerals and fiber. Some fruits are also high in sugar but still a diabetic patient can consume some fruits in limit.
1. Mango
Mango is a fruit that most people love but diabetics are afraid to consume. However, nutritionists say that one serving (3/4 cup) of mangoes provides 7% of your daily fiber needs. Fiber slows the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream which is essential for glucose management.
2. Oranges
Orange juice is high in sugar. So drinking its juice is not suitable for diabetic patients. Oranges are known for their high levels of vitamin C, but one medium-sized orange contains about 3 grams of fiber. Fiber keeps you feeling full longer and can help with weight and glucose management.
3. Watermelon
Watermelon has a sweet taste but is actually completely sugar free. One cup of sliced watermelon contains 9 grams of natural sugar, which is less than 1 cup of sliced apples. A diabetic patient can consume watermelon in small quantities.
4. Avocado
If you have diabetes you also need to watch your fat intake. Having diabetes doubles the risk of heart disease. Avocado is a fruit that is actually very beneficial. Avocados do not contain as much sugar as other fruits and this does not influence your glycemic response.
5. Bananas
Bananas are also a bad fruit for diabetics but raw green bananas are a good source of resistant starch. Fiber that lowers blood sugar levels and fights insulin resistance. So bananas can be consumed in diabetes.
